LOOK 👀 BEFORE YOU BUY A TICKET BOOTH

Sentry Box

You should always make the effort and go and take a proper look at any sentry box, gatehouse, ticket booth or kiosk, Portable Building, anti-vandal cabin, shipping container or container conversion you may be interested, before you make a commitment to buy or purchase from any person or portable building business.

SENTRY BOX / GATEHOUSE / TICKET BOOTH or KIOSK Buildings that may look fine in images may have hidden damage which is not obvious on pictures or indeed consciously disclosed to a prospective purchaser ! like damage to floors / floor joists or roofs for instance which are renowned for being neglected or getting damaged, which will affect the long term integrity of a building that may look fine on images.

Some portable building, a/v site cabin and container businesses would be happy to palm off inferior equipment to unsuspecting buyers under the umbrella of “Sold As Seen” we don’t like this approach, so please make arrangements to visit us to view a portable sentry box or this particular  ……… and/or any other equipment you may be interested in.

At ContainerKing® / rent-a-unit we are an open and honest “straight talKing business®” and we do genuinely have your/our customers best interests in focus, we are an honorable business and we always make every endeavour to never misled customers or mis-describe any new or “pre used” portable building, a/v site cabin or shipping container which we are offering “for sale” so we really want all prospective customers to come over and take a closer look at what you’re interested in buying first.

So please if you’re interested in buying a sentry box, gatehouse, ticket booth or kiosk, in the first instance either “enquire online” and we will contact you shortly (or) simply give ContainerKing® / rent-a-unit a call within business opening hours 01724 858000 to speak to Leanne / Joanne or Steve

History of the Sentry Box

The history of the sentry box dates back centuries and is closely tied to military traditions and the need for security and surveillance. Here’s a brief overview of its evolution:

Early Origins

  1. Medieval Watchtowers: The concept of guarding strategic locations dates back to ancient civilizations, where elevated structures like watchtowers were used to keep watch over settlements, borders, and important passageways.
  2. Roman Fortifications: The Romans were known for their advanced military tactics and engineering. They built fortified outposts along their vast empire, including guard towers and fortresses, to monitor and defend their territories.

Development in Europe

  1. Medieval Castles: During the Middle Ages, castles served as both residences for nobility and military strongholds. Guardrooms and lookout towers were integral parts of castle architecture, providing vantage points for sentries to watch for approaching enemies.
  2. 18th Century Europe: The modern concept of the sentry box began to emerge in the 18th century. These small, enclosed structures were placed at key points along fortifications, city walls, and military installations to house sentries on duty.

Military Usage

  1. Guard Posts: Sentry boxes became standard features in military installations, barracks, and garrisons worldwide. They provided shelter for sentries stationed at entry gates, checkpoints, and other strategic locations, allowing them to observe and control access.
  2. Naval Sentry Boxes: On ships, particularly naval vessels, sentry boxes were installed on deck to provide shelter for sailors standing guard duty. These compact structures offered protection from the elements while maintaining visibility over the surrounding area.

Civilian and Commercial Applications

  1. Security Booths: Over time, the use of sentry boxes expanded beyond military contexts to include civilian and commercial applications. They were employed at government buildings, private estates, industrial sites, and public venues to enhance security and control access.
  2. Ticket Booths: In entertainment venues, amusement parks, and transportation hubs, modified versions of sentry boxes, known as ticket booths or kiosks, were used to sell tickets, provide information, and manage entry to events or attractions.

Modern Usage

  1. Security and Access Control: Today, sentry boxes continue to play a role in security and access control, albeit in more diverse settings. They are used at airports, corporate campuses, construction sites, parking lots, and other locations where surveillance and monitoring are necessary.
  2. Architectural Symbolism: In some contexts, sentry boxes have become architectural symbols, representing security, authority, and vigilance. They are sometimes included in ceremonial settings, historical re enactments, and tourist attractions to evoke a sense of tradition and heritage.

Benefits of Ticket Booths

  1. Flexibility: Multiple Uses. Customizable to meet specific needs.
  2. Cost-Effectiveness: Lower construction and maintenance costs, reusable materials.
  3. Eco-Friendliness: Recyclable materials prevent environmental pollution.
  4. Portability: Easily relocatable without the need for permanent foundations.
  5. Durability: Made from strong, waterproof, and non-porous materials.
